World Book Day 2026!

World Book Day took place on the 5th March 2026 and once again, it was a huge success!
It was great to see so many children dress up as a character from their favourite books.
Parents came in to classes to share in the reading experience and talk about their favourite books.

We thoroughly encourage all our children to read !

Our Teachers always enjoy getting involved as can be seen in our gallery below!

Mexican Day at School!

Today pupils enjoyed a delicious Mexican-themed lunch, bringing a taste of Mexico to the dining hall. The menu included tasty chicken tacos, vegan mince tacos and jacket potatoes with assorted fillings, alongside chilli chips and a sweetcorn and pepper mix.

To finish, pupils tucked into doughnut bites with chocolate sauce or fresh fruit.

It was wonderful to see so many pupils trying something new and enjoying the vibrant flavours of the day.

A big thank you to our catering team for organising such a fun and tasty themed lunch!

Supporting the Poppy Appeal

We’re proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our school community, we’ve raised £122.26 for the Poppy Appeal.

Every donation helps support serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families, providing vital assistance ranging from financial support to rehabilitation and companionship.

The Poppy Appeal is a cause close to the nation’s heart, honouring those who have served and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We’re grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting this important charity and helping us continue the tradition of remembrance and support.

Bonfire Night Menu a Huge Hit at School!

Today’s Bonfire Night menu sparked some serious excitement in the school!

Our students were treated to a fiery feast featuring Bang Bang Sausages and Fire Cracker Mash— a sizzling, delight that everyone loved — and our Snap, Crackle & Pop Cake, which brought all the festive fun with its crackling, popping goodness.

The flavours were as explosive as fireworks, and the feedback has been nothing short of glowing!

We’re so thrilled to see how much our school enjoyed these creative, delicious dishes.

Can’t wait for next year’s celebration!

Published Admission Number Consultation

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to let you know that Humberstone Infant School is consulting on a proposal to reduce the number of places available in Reception from 90 to 75 starting from September 2027.

Over the past five years, the number of applications for Reception places at our school has fallen in line with local birth rates and lower pupil numbers across the city. After careful consideration we are proposing this change to ensure that the school continues to operate efficiently and that we can maintain the high quality of teaching and learning that our children deserve.

There will be no changes to our admissions criteria or to places already offered for September 2026 or earlier.

You can read the full consultation document on our school website by clicking HERE

If you would like to share your views, please send your comments to me by Monday 22nd December by email or by post to:

Email: consultation@humberstoneacademy.co.uk

FAO: Executive Headteacher.

Post: Humberstone Infant School,  Main Street, Humberstone, Leicester, LE5 1AE

All feedback received will be considered by the Trust Board before a final decision is made in early 2026.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your ongoing support for our school community.

Harvest Festival!

Our school community came together to celebrate the season at this year’s Harvest Festival Assembly!

With spirited songs, the assembly was a wonderful way to honor the harvest and share gratitude for the season.

Thank you to all the pupils, staff, and families who helped make this celebration so memorable—these photos capture the great collection of food and toiletries ready for the Open Hands charity collection!
